Ashoka Mukpo is a journalist based in Berlin who works as a features writer for Mongabay. He covers environmental stories around the world, but primarily in Africa. In 2023 he was a Society of Environmental Journalists award winner for beat reporting. His work has included investigations into commodity markets, extractive industry operations, and conservation enforcement. Prior to Mongabay he was a freelancer based in Liberia and an on-staff reporter at the American Civil Liberties Union, where he covered immigration.
